Apple’s M4 MacBook Pro Launch Expected Around October 2024: What We Know

The M4-powered MacBook Pro is expected to launch later this year

Apple launched the new iPad Air and Pro with the M4 chipset and soon the MacBook Pros will be getting the upgraded hardware.

Apple introduced the M4 chipset with the iPad Pro model earlier this year which surprised many. But the company is already preparing the stage to bring the first M4-powered Macs to the market later this year. Apple usually slots in the new Macs for an October launch after the big iPhone reveal and this year we could see the tradition continue.

The details about the possible M4 MacBook Pro launch has come via Ross Young, who is a display analyst tracking the industry developments. Young has pointed out that the panel shipments for new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models will start in the third quarter of 2024, which falls in line with the possible October launch timeline.

AI-Powered Macs Incoming?

We had previously heard reports about Apple planning for a MacBook Pro and Mac Mini M4 upgrade later this year from Bloomberg, and Young is more or less confirming those expectations. The M4 is Apple’s new 3nm process chipset which is being pitted against fellow AI processors from Intel and Qualcomm for AI PCs or Macs in this case.

The display panel and design were recently upgraded so the biggest change with the M4 MacBook Pro is going to be the hardware, which the company claims is 25 percent faster than the M3 chipset and also brings a host of AI features or Apple Intelligence as the company is calling it.

The macs will also come with the macOS Sequoia version this year which will offer these features thanks to the built-in M4 chip from the company. Using the new chipset means Apple has more room to increase the prices of the MacBook Pros but as we have seen with the iPad Air and iPad Pro 2024 models, we don’t foresee that happening with the new launches.
