CBS News projects Trump wins Michigan’s GOP primary, Biden wins Democratic primary

CBS News projects that former President Donald Trump will win the Republican primary in Michigan, while President Biden will win the Democratic primary.

With 62% of the vote counted, Trump led with 67% to former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley’s 27%. Haley, fresh off her defeat in her home state of South Carolina, has vowed to stay in the race through Super Tuesday on March 5.

On the Democratic side, with 85% of the vote counted, Mr. Biden has 81% of the vote. While he did not have any challengers, there was an effort launched by Arab and Muslim Americans to vote “uncommitted” in the primary as a protest of his policy toward Israel. With 85% of the vote reported, “uncommitted” had passed the 100,000 mark with 101,050 votes, or 13%.

If “uncommitted” receives more than 15% of the vote, then delegates who are not bound to any candidate could attend the convention.
